MEET THE TEAM

JJAC is build on a foundation of volunteers without whom the club would not exist. Below are a group of like minded people who devote their time towards helping juniors improve their angling skills.

Head Coach

"I have been an angler since I was four years old. Although I am a match fisherman at heart, I have also fished for Carp and Pike in the past. I worked in the fishing industry for 9 years making all kinds of rigs. I have fished all over the country in various leagues and teams at National Division 1 level.

I am now a qualified Level 2 angling coach, head coach and joint founding member of JJAC.

My challenge now is to build a successful Junior club to help secure a future for angling clubs in the local area."

Lead Coach

"I have many years experience as an Angler, having tried all branches of the sport except Fly Fishing. For the last few years I have concentrated on match style fishing, but really l just want to be on the bank catching some new PB's and improving my skills."

"At 13, I was given the choice of either giving up fishing or experimenting with explosives. I stuck with fishing and still feel excitement when I hook a fish. There is always more to learn about fishing and I'm happy to help others develop skills and new methods. Before retirement, I worked studying freshwater life in rivers and streams. I now volunteer with the Wessex Rivers Trust."

"I’m a life long Coarse angler focusing of late on specimen Carp. Representing the UK Armed Forces, I have fished throughout the UK and further afield from the rivers of Holland to chasing Arapaima in Thailand. A qualified coaching assistant, I have been a DDAS member for over 35 years."

My fishing career started on the river Stour near Wimborne. I was nine-years-old and spent my early years catching Chub, Grayling, and Pike.
From there I progressed into most types of fishing from Fly fishing on streams, to Boat fishing at sea. However, my preferred method is to catch large Bream on the feeder.

I want to continue to help JJAC to get kids into fishing out in the fresh air and away from their 'screens'.

I started fishing when I was 8 years old on a local canal.
Later in life, whilst working in Holland, I seized opportunities to catch a lot of big carp.
I worked a lot in Europe, through France, Belgium, and Spain. Including the dam on the river Ebro where we caught mostly large catfish. In my working life I started out in the meat trade then went into the communication industry as a cable jointer and erecting pylons. Now semi retired,
I go fishing whenever I get the chance. Usually in short sessions on local waters.

It all started when a friend took me fishing. He'd cast, I'd hold the rod, and he would reel in the fish for me. Happily, with 30 years of angling under my belt, I'm now trusted to fish all on my own!
I'm a dedicated generalist; I'll fish for anything with fins and a tail. From skimmers on the float or feeder, session fishing for carp, to dead-baiting for pike, I'll do it all and like to keep things simple. If I could only do one type of fishing for the rest of my life, I'd set out with a lure rod to chase pike. Although, sitting behind some carp rods with a cup of tea in hand, would come a close second!

I’ve been fishing for as long as I can remember.
Whether it’s exploring the glides and runs of a river for grayling, planning a campaign for carp, or searching the shoreline in the dead of night for bass.
You never stop learning when you’re fishing and this year it’s the art of pole fishing for me !

"I started fishing with my grandfather in the West Midlands. My favourite fishing is coarse fishing and I have represented the Navy at national level. I relish any opportunity to fish and I love the peace and quiet. I look forward to sharing my passion for angling with my grandson one day."

I am a retired Transport and Ground Equipment Manager for a well-known Airline.
My hobbies are Fishing, DIY, Advanced Driving Observer & Dorset Group Treasurer, computing and old machine restoration.
I have been fishing since I was 9 years old and like any type of coarse and match fishing. I have been involved with DDAS for many years both as an ordinary active member and as a Committee member.

I started fishing at the age of ten years old at Sandhurst Fisheries in Berkshire. Right from the start I loved it, and I knew it would become a big part of my life.
My favourite method of fishing is pole fishing, and I will use one whenever I can. But I will use a feeder or a float rod if the conditions dictate. I started fishing with the juniors a couple of years ago and, as my niece needed less help for me to fish, I started helping other juniors and eventually become a member of the coaching team. I want to try to help new anglers to grow their angling skills, gain confidence in their abilities, and to respect each other, the environment, and their equipment.

Julie Avatar

Julie Bracey
Welfare Officer

Julie is a retired Metropolitan police officer who specialised in Child Protection and Domestic violence units. She retrained at college to care for Special needs  children. Since moving to Dorset she has worked in a Special needs school, a after school club and is currently a nanny to some local children. Due to their interest in tennis she has become a welfare officer for the Lawn tennis association. As a recently trained person in safeguarding she has brought her training, knowledge and common sense for us to utilise within JJAC.

Trudie Avatar

Trudie Howard
Social Media/Club Mascot

Trudie is the long suffering wife of the Head Coach, Graham Howard.
She has the patience of a saint and is a true angel.

Lovingly cared for by the Head Coach, Trudie is mostly housebound during the colder months due to ill health. But, often threatens to make an appearance at a JJAC event.

She is without doubt the supporting foundation of everything to do with JJAC, and has agreed to be the social media guru. So, it is she you should turn to if the pictures (that you agreed to) cast you in an unfavourable light.
